Gulf States Engineering seeks a Senior Electrical Designer in Mobile, AL.

Duties:

Specification, design and layout of Motor Control Centers, Unit Substations, Switchgear, Power Transformers, Plant Medium Voltage Distribution System and Low Voltage Distribution Systems. Specification, design and layout of facility Emergency Distribution System including Generators, Paralleling Gear, Automatic Transfer Switches, UPS systems and Switchgear. Specification, design and layout of facility grounding systems. Specification, design and layout of facility Lighting Fixtures and controls. Utilize AUTOCAD to create electrical design drawings. Create and maintain AutoCad Lisp and VBA programs to automate data exchange from drawings to prepare conduit and cable schedules. Use Microsoft Project to develop and manage electrical project schedules. Work with electrical contractors to oversee proper and timely installation of electrical systems and equipment. Assist with relay and breaker coordination studies. Assist with Arc Flash and Short Circuit analysis. Assist with Power Factor correction studies. Ensure compliance of Industrial facilities with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, IBC, ASHRAE, CEC and any local code requirements.


Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Requires at least 10 years of experience as Electrical Designer or related position. Experience must include the following experience and skills (can be gained concurrently): 10 years of experience as Electrical Designer or related position in the steel manufacturing industry; experience designing and developing instrumentation and electrical systems and drawings for the Facility Power Distribution system; experience designing and developing instrument and electrical construction drawings for installation of mechanical equipment; experience inspecting electrical conduit and wiring installations; experience utilizing tools such as AutoCad , MS Project software, Excel, automation programming tools; and knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC).  Less than 5%, domestic and international travel required.
