University of Mobile is a private Baptist university which has seen rapid growth since its inception in 1952. This growth has warranted the addition of new residence halls. GSE provided engineering design for the 96-bed apartment style residence hall, The Timbers. GSE’s scope of work for the 55,000 square foot building included surveying, structural and civil site design. In addition, GSE has also completed an ALTA survey of the 375 acre campus, and designed mechanical and electrical upgrades to the Sports Medicine facility.
Gulf Shores, AL

GSE was contracted to provide structural remediation for Mustique Condominium after it was discovered that the building lacked adequate steel reinforcement to meet the strength requirements of the Building Code. GSE designed a remediation using carbon fiber reinforced polymer strips(CFRP). The remediation was completed by C-Sharpe while the popular condo remained in operation. The work was performed entirely from the exterior and avoided the removal or demolition of any structural elements. This remedy allowed for the work to be completed at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods.

Lighthouse Resort is a high-rise oceanfront condominium resort located on the beach of Gulf Shores, AL. With a height of 25 levels and total square footage of over 600,000 square feet, the resort is one of the premier properties in the region. GSE’s scope of work included all HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design. Special design emphasis was placed on environmental and moisture controls within indoor pool facilities. GSE also supported the developer by providing bidding assistance and construction administration.

In the heart of New Orleans’ oldest neighborhood, the French Quarter, the former Maison Blanche Department store is currently undergoing massive renovations and restoration to become an 87 unit residential property. GSE partnered with John C. Williams Architects, LLC to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design of the 5 story building. A new floor level will be added between the existing 1st and 2nd floor to create an additional parking level. A new penthouse level is also being added.
$44 Million - New Orleans, LA

This new 250-unit mixed income multi-family housing development includes three residential 5-story buildings, parking on the ground level, fitness room, swimming pool, clubhouse, playground, business office and a community/activities center with kitchen. GSE provided the structural, mechanical, and electrical design for this development. The project was named by New Orleans Magazine as one of 2010’s “Best Architecture” recipients.
Saraland, AL
Services: Civil Site Design
GSE provided survey and civil engineering design for the 216 unit multifamily development. GSE provided civil design and permitting services for the 23 acre gated apartment complex. Scope of work included site plan, paving, site grading, storm water management system, utility design, erosion and sediment control, and construction observation and certification. Previous to commencing design, GSE performed topographic and boundary survey of the property.
Fairhope, AL

GSE provided structural, civil, topographic survey, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design in support of an architectural design for a three story mixed used property. The three story building is approximately 14,000 square feet of total finished space, and designed with metal stud infill. The first floor was converted to retail and parking area. The second and third floors each have four living quarters.
Saraland, AL

GSE provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the new 4 story hotel in Saraland, AL. The first floor has a center loaded lobby, multiple meeting spaces, and open breakfast area. The additional floors house 101 private guest rooms. Structural design consists of prestressed, precast hollow core slabs bearing on masonry walls with steel moment frames. To maximize energy efficiency, GSE designed a VRF system that uses a dedicated outside air unit. Along with engineering design, GSE is also providing construction services.
Mobile, AL

This historic property was recently transformed into a multi-family condominium complex. GSE provided plans and specifications to execute the construction of converting to a 10 unit complex. GSE’s scope of work included initial site survey and measurement of existing conditions, layout of the units, HVAC design, structural design, plumbing design, electrical and lighting design, egress and passive fire protection design, and fire detection and suppression design.

Centennial Plaza is a historical site that once housed a Veterans Administration facility. It will now be a traditional neighborhood development. GSE provided topographic and tree surveying to aid in the design of the site improvements. We provided civil engineering services for the Holiday Inn resort (the first anchor tenant) and the first phase of the infrastructure improvements for the overall development. GSE will continue to provide services as new phases are developed.
