Land Survey Crew Chief

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate daily functions of a one- two-or three-person survey crew.
  • Execute Boundary and Topographic surveys, as-built surveys and construction staking and layout.
  • Operate surveying technology and equipment including GPS, Total Stations, data collection devices, and 3d Scanners.
  • Ensure quality of standards and completeness of all data based on direction and research provided by Survey Manager.
  • Conduct survey data collection and provide interpretation.
  • Provide accurate sketches and maintain field notes.
  • Maintain industry and state technical standards based on project type.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for all crew members.
  • Directly responsible for direction and actions of field crew.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. An associate or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 10 years’ experience with various types of land surveying projects with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in managing survey crews as field crew chief.
  • Operate surveying technology and equipment including GPS, Total Stations, data collection devices, and 3d Scanners.
  • Possess basic knowledge of principles and practice land surveying with a basic understanding of legal principles.
  • Conduct survey data collection and provide interpretation.
  • Must possess strong mathematical skills.
  • Boundaries, topographic, and construction layout knowledge.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for all crew members.
  • Project determined travel will be required. This will require a flexible work schedule.
